Paige Sims Akers, Pharm.D.

Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice

Dr. Akers is a former member of the faculty at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. In this role she served as course coordinator for the non-traditional Doctor of Pharmacy program. Akers has practiced as a clinical pediatric pharmacy specialist at Children’s Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has served as a preceptor in student clinical clerkships and for pharmacy residents in clinical practice. Akers most recent position was with sanofi-aventis Pharmaceuticals where she was a Cardiovascular Regional Medical Liaison working with cardiologists and other healthcare leaders.  Akers completed a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Lipscomb University in 1990 and graduated in 1995 from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. After graduation, Dr. Akers completed a one year Pharmacy practice residency, followed by a second year of pediatric specialty residency training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Laura Ward

Director of Recruitment and Admissions

Ward comes to the Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy from Freed-Hardeman University where she was the Associate Director of Admissions. She also worked as the Admissions Counselor serving the middle Tennessee area, where she would travel to various schools, college fairs, and churches representing F-HU. While at Freed-Hardman, Ward also served as the Marketing Coordinator for the undergraduate admissions office. Prior to F-HU, Ward was a jewelry buyer for Service Merchandise. Ward, a 1995 graduate of Lipscomb, has a degree in Communications.

Kathryne Channell

Administrative Assistant

Channell joins the College of Pharmacy team as the Administrative Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs. She is a Lipscomb University graduate with a degree in Office Administration. She has served as a volunteer for various non-profit organizations, and speaks at ladies events throughout the country.
